Type Locality and Naming
Along the Say Ust-Kuruk, Khanbandytay Mountains, northern foothills of the N. Nuratau Range. P.N. Podkopaev et al. in 1961 (166, p. 195). Stratotype in Ust-Kuruksay.
Synonym: Ust'kuruksay Fm, Устькуруксайская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Foliated, platy, and thin to medium-bedded organogenic limestones with inclusions and interbeds of claystone (argillites), siltstone (aleurolites), and siliceous rocks. Thickness 190-450m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformably overlies the Mentian Fm
Upper contact
Contact with the overlying Predgorno-Nuratin Fm is tectonic.
